My story began with "Look at me when I am talking to you!"
These words were hurled at me like darts and they pierced my soul. I was stunned, embarrassed, and ashamed. All I could do was look in the direction of my bully boss and pray the meeting would end soon.
I know what it is like to feel so low you have nowhere to go but up. I also know what it is like to work hard to achieve the title, the team, and office with my name outside the door. I should have been at my peak in this ‘big girl job,’ but the reality that I was being bullied by my boss left me feeling small. This person I respected was causing me profound pain. I felt stuck. Until one day, my fear of staying got bigger than my fear of leaving. So, I resigned.
Today, Eyrie Success is the positive consequence of that experience! The company I founded supports individuals and organizations that find themselves stuck in situations where bullying and conflict rule the day and ruin the culture. The cloud of tension is a stifling type of living and working that many people experience, but find themselves ill-equipped to talk about. I had nobody to turn to and when I tried, I was met with dismissive statements like, that’s how it is or that’s how they are.
Ultimately, I did what many talented people do when they find themselves in this situation, I left. I made a decision to choose myself. I made a decision to bet on my gifts and talents. Once I became aware that I had the option to leave and not have my soul continue to die daily, I was empowered.
Eyrie Success was named after the nesting place of eagles, from the platform from which they to learn to soar. To fly, they face scary and challenging situations. It is those very scenarios that teach them who they really are, what they are capable of being, and how to navigate the world. I created Eyrie Success to be a trusted partner for organizations that recognize talented people are leaving and they desire to understand why and create solutions that positive impact culture and leadership development.
